Mr. Schmaltz was born February 8, 1944 in Baroda the son of the late Julius and Lydia (Heritz) Schmaltz. On June 9, 1961 he married the former Sandra Reitz. Alan was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Stevensville. He worked for Clark Equipment in Buchanan for 21 years and Colonial Die for 19 years. He and his wife also operated the family farm for 46 years.
