Anne Louise Mathieu, 98 of Bridgman passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at her home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am Monday, March 14, 2016 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 3903 Lake Street, Bridgman with Father Arthur Howard, Celebrant. A Rosary service will be held 2 pm Sunday, followed by visitation until 4 PM at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, St. Joseph. Memorial contributions may be given to the Berrien County Cancer Service, 7301 Red Arrow Hwy, Stevensville, MI 49127 or Bridgman Public Library, 4460 Lake St, Bridgman, MI 49106.

Anne was born July 18, 1917 in St. Joseph, the daughter of the late Joseph and Cecellia (Anderson) Lopker. On April 18, 1938 she married J. Harold “Curley” Mathieu and they built their home in Bridgman where she resided until her death. Anne was active in the community and helped organize the original PTA for the Bridgman school. She was an active member of the Bridgan Women’s Club and Our Lady Queen of Peace Alter Society. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends and in several clubs. She loved fabrics and design and was an accomplished seamstress. Her love of gardening flowers and decorating lead to her attending the American Floral Arts school in Chicago. She and her husband renovated a building in Bridgman and opened The Sandpiper Flower and Gifts in 1969. She was a devoted loving wife, mother and grandmother and always supported her children in their projects and athletic events. She was an excellent cook, loved entertaining and celebrating holidays.

Survivors include three children, David (Marye) Mathieu of Menominee, Judy Mathieu of Bridgman and Rich (Joy) Mathieu of Marshall; She also has nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Harold “Curley”, three brothers, Joe, Ed and Bob Lopker and a sister, Judy Adams.
