Barbara LaBelle

Barbara June LaBelle, 73, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015 at home.

Barbara, the daughter of Frederick LaBelle and Florence LaBelle Parsons (nee Shipperley), was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 5, 1942, and has resided in Bridgman since 1993. She was preceded in death by her father in December 1980 and her mother in August 2003. She is survived by several cousins: George (Lois) Shipperley of Aurora, Il, William Shipperley Sr. of Niles, MI, William Shipperley Jr. of Buchanan, MI, Susan (John) Shipperley O’Brien of South Bend, IN, and Cloud Rock (Gordon) LaBelle of Portland, OR.

Cremation has taken place and it is her request that there be no visitation or service.

Barb enjoyed reading, listening to music, watching tennis (much to the amazement of her friends), scrapbooking, and the monthly “lunch bunch” gatherings. She was most grateful for all her friends who were always there to help her, especially Lawrence, Peggy and Wolf, Linda and Tom, Diana & Larry, Pearl and Jim, MaryBeth and Miriam. She was also grateful for her special phone friends Joyce and Margaret. Special long time friends Lorene, Brian, Toni and Jim of Kalamazoo, and Shirley of Monroe, always held a special place in her heart.

Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Aid, Berrien County Humane Society, Bridgman Lions Club, Bridgman Public Library and/or Friends of the Bridgman Public Library, Sue Ellen’s Bears, WAUS at Andrews University, Wounded Warrior Project or Shily’s Promise Youth Ranch.

Barb asks that you remember her by being strong in your faith, helping victims of abuse, working for peace and justice, being kind to animals and assisting those less fortunate. Peace.
