Benedict Michael Dziegel, 83, of Portage, formerly of Stevensville passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Monday, April 8, 2019 at Lakeshore Baptist Church, 5411 Cleveland Ave. Stevensville, with Reverend Duane Anderson and Reverend Gary Harris officiating. Ben was born January 22, 1936 in Chicago, the son of the late Ben and Agnes (Siedlarz) Dziegel, Sr. His family moved to Stevensville when he was 12. He graduated in 1954 from Stevensville High School. Ben worked for Michigan Gas Utilities for 40 years retiring in 1993. On August 27, 1984 he married Sandra Joy Pope and they shared 34 wonderful years together. He loved woodworking and like to share what he had made with others. He was a ham radio enthusiast with his call sign of K8MYC. He was a member of Lakeshore Baptist Church where he served as a facilities coordinator. He enjoyed family time at their place at Sandy Pines.
Survivors include his wife: Sandra; and children: Eric (Aoi) Ferguson, and Michael (Mischelle) Ferguson; daughter-in-law: Robin Dziegel; grandsons: Mason and Ty Ferguson who he adored.
Ben was preceded in death by his son Michael Dziegel.
