Betty Denman

Betty Jane Denman, 88 of Harbert passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013 at her home.

Friends may meet with the family 5-7 PM Friday, July 26 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 11 AM at Harbert Community Church, 6444 Harbert Road, Harbert. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Three Oaks. Betty was born Nov. 15, 1924 in Sawyer, the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude (Benson) Jochem. She was a lifetime and active member of Harbert Community Church, she loved gardening, golfing and flower arranging. Betty lived in the Harbert and Sawyer area her entire life, she loved her community and caring for the needs of those around her. On August 19, 1943 she married Daniel T. Denman III and this year they were celebrating 70 years together.

Survivors include her husband - Daniel; children - Melody (Ken) Reitz and Priscilla (Gene) Wright both of Buchanan, Daniel (Candy) Denman IV of Arizona and Scott (Cheryl) Denman of Grosse Pointe; 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a great great grandson; sister-in-law, Shirley Jochem and a nephew, Tom Jochem.

Betty was preceded in death by three brothers - George, Bob and Charles Jochem

Most important thing in my life was taking care of my family and living near Lake Michigan - to hear the waves on a stormy and windy day. Hobbies included swinmming, gardening, sewing and baking and enjoyed working in the Harbert Community Church & School.
