Carole Ann Shafer, 73, of Baroda, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at her home.
A private family graveside service will be held. You are invited to gather with the family and share stories as you celebrate Carole’s life on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 12:00 PM- 2:00 PM at Baroda Bible Church, 9058 Third Street in Baroda. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Ln, St Joseph, MI 49085.

Carole was born on July 26, 1942 in St. Joseph to the late Frederick and Mary Ellen (Johns) Shafer, Jr. Her love of flowers was evident as you walked around her yard; at one time caring for over 300 roses. Carole immersed herself in all things related to her abiding love for German Shepherd dogs, with appreciation to Dr. Mark Johnson and Dr. Danette Kiessel for their dedicated care. Carole earned earned her RN degree from South Bend School of Nursing and her Masters degree from Defiance College, Ohio. For some time she was the head of the I.C.U. at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Ft. Wayne, IN. She was a professor of nursing at Indiana University, Ft. Wayne and at Ivy Tech, South Bend. The family especially thanks Amy McDonald for her dedication in caring for Carole and many others who were involved in her care.
Carole is survived by her sister: Jean (Martin) Prillwitz of Benton Harbor; brother: Tom (Wendie) Shafer of Baroda; nephews: Paul (Rosemary) and Collin Prillwitz, Rudy (Diana) Shafer; and nieces: Margot Shafer and Laura (Mathew) Kuntz.
Carole was also preceded in death by a brother: Roger.
