Charles Raymond Trapp, Sr., 87, a lifelong resident of Baroda passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at his home in the care of his family.
A funeral service will be held 11 AM, Monday, June 29, 2020 at Pike Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman with Reverend Thomas Batsky officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Ruggles Cemetery, Baroda. You can pay your respects at the funeral home on Sunday June 28 from 1 - 7 pm and where the family will be present from 3-7 during that time. Chuck was born December 9, 1932 in Baroda, the son of the late Paul and Elizabeth (Opperman) Trapp. On April 15, 1953 he married Barbara A. Kolberg and she preceded him in death on September 5, 2004. Chuck proudly served in the US Marine Corp and was a 60 year member and eight time Commander of the Baroda American Legion Post #345. He served his community as the past Sexton of the cemeteries, managed many baseball teams from Little League to Legion Ball and was on the Baroda Fire Department for 22 years. He retired from Clark Equipment after 32 years in 1983. Chuck was instrumental in starting the Baroda Fireworks and in 2018 was inducted into the Lakeshore High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Survivors include his children: Charles (Wanda) Trapp, Jr., Cheryl (Paul) Spencer and Christine (Mike) Reisig; five grandchildren: Eugene (Katrina) Williams, Gary (Stephanie) Trapp, Dakota Weiffenbach, Phillip Spencer and David Spencer; six great grandchildren; siblings: Betty Gaul and Lamar (LaVerne) Trapp. special friend: JoAnn Trapp.
Charles was preceded in death by six siblings .
