Donald Walter Hutter, 87, of Baroda, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2025.
Born on November 6, 1937 in Detroit, Don was the son of Walter J. Hutter and Marie L. Hutter (nee Paulson). After graduating from New Troy High School in 1956, he went on to work for the Industrial Rubber Goods company before his military service. Don proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, enlisting in 1961 and serving with honor until his honorable discharge in 1967. During his service, he attained the rank of Specialist 4 in the 1st Infantry Division out of Fort Riley, Kansas.
On January 8, 1965, he married his beloved wife, Patricia Marie (nee Yacobozzi), and together they raised three children. Don’s career was marked by long hours of hands on work to support his family, as a Lathe Operator for Clark Equipment Co. for seventeen years, and most recently as a Die Setter at Premier Tool & Die for nineteen years, before retiring in 2001.
Don was known for his warm sense of humor and positive attitude. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and camping with his family and friends. He was an active member and frequent volunteer at Christ Lutheran Church in Stevensville for several decades. Although not a musician himself, Don could definitely carry a tune and enjoyed karaoke at home and in the community.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Patricia; his brothers James (Stephanie)Hutter and Charles (Nettie) Hutter; his children, Don Hutter, Mark (Andrea) Hutter and Julie (Jason) Whitman; his grandchildren, Braelynn (Kyle) Dunn, Mason Hutter, Michael Hutter, Corbin Hutter, Lucas Whitman, Gabrielle Whitman, Anthony Hutter and Christopher Whitman; and his great-grandson Frederick Dunn. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Michael “Mick” Hutter.
