Donald Kiel

Donald James Kiel, 69 of Bridgman passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.

Don was born December 1, 1940 in St. Joseph to Alexander and Helen (Kunde) Kiel. He served his country in the National Guard. On December 15, 1966 he married the former Sarah “Kathy” Slavens. Don was an inspector with the Michigan Department of Transportation and after 33 years retired in 1991. He enjoyed being outside and always had a remodeling project underway at the house.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Kathy; two sons – Michael Kiel of Three Oaks and Kevin (Sandra) Kiel of Bridgman; five grandchildren – Michael, Joshua, Trevor, Nathan, and Makayla; his mother, Helen Kiel of Bridgman; and one brother, Henry Kiel of Ft. Myers, Florida.

Don was preceded in death by his father, Alexander Kiel; and one sister, Darlene.
