Doris Carney

Doris Marie Carney, 91, of Bridgman, MI, passed way on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Visitation will be from 3 - 6 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, Michigan 49085 or Heifer International, 1 World Avenue, Little Rock, Arkansas 72202.

Doris was born August 15, 1921, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Theodore and Lillian M. (Pagel) Harris. Doris married James T. Carney on August 25, 1956, and they shared 56 years together. She had attended Lake Michigan College and was an active member of the Bridgman Book Club and Womens Club. Before marriage Doris worked for the Wayne County Drain Commissioner’s Office in Detroit.

Survivors include her husband, Jim; and sisters Bernice Aikman and Marjorie (Joseph) Wolber and many nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded by a son, Michael J. Carney in 1982 and a brother-in-law - Eugene.
