Dorothy Rose Steinke

Dorothy Rose Steinke, 88, of Bridgman passed away peacefully on January 9, 2023 at A Place Called Home, Stevensville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, January 16, 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 9650 Church Street Bridgman, MI 49106. Friends may meet with the family from 10-11 AM on Monday at the church. Burial will be in New Troy Cemetery, New Troy. Memorial contributions may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church. Dorothy was born on December 9, 1934 in Galien, the daughter of the late Henry and Mollie (Schmaltz) Granke. In the mid 1950’s she worked at Bendix as a comptometrist where she met her future husband. In 1959, she married Elmer Steinke and he preceded her in death in 1992. Dorothy was a member at Immanuel Lutheran Church and faith was important to her. She believed in the importance of teaching Christian values to her children. She enjoyed cooking, polka dancing, singing and yodeling around the house, catering and cake decorating, and making and selling crafts. Dorothy also loved spending time with her grandchildren and her pets. She was a professional model for print and fashion shows and also was an actress in several movies and TV commercials. She had a great sense of humor.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Craig (Gina) Steinke, Kali (Eric) Foster, and Aimee (John) Krieger; grandchildren: Ellia Foster, Kila Foster, Nola Krieger, Gavin Krieger; and a sister: Mary Ruff.

Dorothy was also preceded in death by three siblings: Ernie Granke, Margie Krieger, and Hank Granke.
