Dr. Joseph Jean Rambo, 91, of Bridgman passed away peacefully on Friday, December 29, 2023 at his home in the care of his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 3903 Lake Street, Bridgman, MI 49106. Friends may meet with the family from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman, where a Prayer Service will be held at 5 PM. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church and Hospice at Home. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com.
Joseph Jean Rambo was born October 15, 1932 in Bridgman, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Rudnick) Rambo. On September 13, 1958 he married Evelyn Pentavalle and they shared 64 years together. He completed his undergraduate studies at Western Michigan University, attended medical school at Loyola Medical School and interned at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. In 1960 Dr. Rambo returned to his hometown, opened his family medical practice, and faithfully served his community for 57 years, retiring in 2017. He truly cherished practicing in Bridgman and the surrounding areas, caring for all of his patients throughout the years. He loved the Bridgman Public Schools and served his community on the school board for 14 years. Dr. Rambo was a partner in the Rambo Inc. Farms and in his time off he had many interests; farming, gardening, and fishing in the Florida Keys. Most of all he was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up.
Survivors include his wife: Evelyn; children: Joseph (Sue Ellen) Rambo, Michelle (James) Solgat, Peter Rambo, Stephen (Eugene) Rambo; son-in-law: Steve Livengood; grandchildren: Rachel Solgat and Sarah (Robert) Ruff, Eucris Ugay-Rambo, Jamie (Dylan) Adams, Jason (Megan) Howard; great grandchildren: Everly and Archer Ruff, Madison Howard, Caden and Carmen Adams; and brother: Verne (Marilyn) Rambo and many nieces and nephews.
Joseph was also preceded in death a daughter: Jean Livengood; and two siblings: Joan “Dolly” (Robert) Krieger and Rene Rambo.
Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman.
