Edna was born on October 17, 1927 in Baroda the daughter of the late Heinrich and Mathilda (Menchinger) Rach. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church on November 12, 1927 and confirmed March 29, 1942.
Edna grew up during the Great Depression and was no stranger to long hours, hard work and frugal living. In November of 1946 she started working at PEMCO Die Casting and 47 years later retired on February 7, 1994. PEMCO hosted a retirement party for her in appreciation of her years of service and dedication to the company. That was a treasured memory for her.
After her retirement she was able to redirect her focus to her great-grandchildren and great- great grandchildren and built bonds and good memories with them as they grew up. She always had the biggest and best smiles when holding the babies. Edna’s happy place was her home where she would spend her free time in the summer tending the flowers that surrounded her home and brightened the entire neighborhood. Any other day of the week you could find her baking her famous lemon bars, dozens of cookies and specialty pies that were an expected part of every holiday or special event table. Edna always enjoyed collecting and trying new recipes she would clip from the newspaper. In her younger days she enjoyed shopping with her friend, Viola Harding, participating in American Legion events, taking road trips with her and eating at Red Lobster.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy McGhee; granddaughters: Chandra McClenahan and Wanda Diehl; six great grandchildren: Keith, Rachel, Jessica, Brandi, Jimmy and Meghan; six great-great grandchildren; brother, Harry Rock; sister, Elizabeth Rock; and eight nieces and nephews.
Edna was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Mast; her brother, Henry Rock; and her best friend, Viola Harding.
Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman.
