Edward Schultz, Gunnery Sergeant, USMC Retired , born March 5, 1937 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin has reported in to the World’s Supreme Commander for future assignment. Edward was transferred from St. Joseph, Michigan on March 18, 2018 after a lengthy bout with illnesses.

He is survived by his lovely wife of 56 years Sadie Lee (Schwartz) Schultz; daughters Roxanne Marie (Schultz) Kelly of St. Joseph, Michigan and Samantha Marie (Schultz) Glore of New Orleans, Louisiana. As well, he leaves behind two absolutely wonderful and supportive sons-in-law, Mark Lawrence Kelly and Matthew Michael Glore, and eight grandchildren that he was extremely proud of: Nathan (and wife Christina) Kelly, Cody Kelly, Jacob Kelly, Emilee Kelly, Elise Glore, Marilyn Glore, Sarah Glore, and Evelyn Glore.

Gunny Schultz proudly served 20 years in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in such faraway places as Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Okinawa, Japan; South Vietnam; as well as several stateside bases including Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; Camp Pendleton, California; and Parris Island, South Carolina. He was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal with combat “V” for valor after his second tour in South Vietnam. As well, he was awarded numerous campaign medals for his service during that theater.

He was retired from the Marine Corps in 1974 and worked for the Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Michigan for a number of years, and moved to St. Joseph, Michigan to work for Whirlpool Corporation at the company’s aircraft hangar at Ross Field. He rose to the position of manager of aircraft and passenger scheduling until his retirement in 1999. As he was with the Marine Corps, he was exceptionally proud to be a part of Whirlpool’s leadership and expansions.

Cremation has taken place as per his request and a private family service will take place at a later date. Financial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers. He wishes to all of his left-behind friends a good and healthy, happy life.
