Elaine Dorothy Lochner

Elaine Dorothy Nitz Lochner, 96, passed away on July 29, 2026, at Pine Ridge Nursing Center, in Stevensville, Michigan.

A memorial service will be held 11 AM on Friday, August 14, 2026 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 9193 Cleveland Ave., Baroda, MI 49101. Friends may meet with the family prior to the service from 10-11 AM on Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to St John’s Lutheran Church. Elaine was born February 4, 1930 to Herman and Hazel (Sorget) Nitz. She was a graduate of Baroda High School and Benton Harbor Junior College. Elaine lived a life marked by devotion, compassion, and quiet strength. She dedicated 30 years to caring for patients as a medical assistant working for John Bailey, MD, and was honored as Berrien County Medical Assistant of the year in 1970.

In 1971, Elaine married Bernard Lochner. The couple enjoyed frequent travel to Florida for his work with Whirlpool. Elaine was deeply devoted to her family, always offering loving care and medical guidance whenever it was needed. She will be remembered with gratitude, love, and deep affection.

The family extends sincere appreciation to the staff and friends at Woodland Terrace in Bridgman for exceptional care and kindness shown to Elaine.

She is survived by her stepson, Brett Lochner; her brother, Ken Nitz; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Lochner; her brothers: Harold Nitz, Chester Nitz, and Larry Nitz; and her parents, Herman and Hazel (Sorget) Nitz
