Frances Marilyn Konya

Frances Marilyn Konya, 94, of St. Joseph passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at Royalton Manor. Fran was born to the late Emil and Martha (Ertman) Fruehauf on July 15, 1931 in Bainbridge Township.

Fran graduated from Coloma High School, and went on to retire from Whirlpool Corporation after a 35-year career.

Fran married Frank Konya in 1977. Together they enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Arizona. Fran loved her Chicago Cubs. Most of all Fran loved polka dancing. She and Frank traveled throughout the area with several trips to Germany following their favorite band.

Fran is survived by three sisters: Jackie Phillippi, Jean (Dale) Kreitner, and Cheryl (Dean) Layman; two adult step children: Kathleen Konya Rose and Kevin Konya and their families; along with several nieces and nephews.

Fran was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; a brother, Roy; along with several nieces and nephews; as well as a special friend, Doug Hoffman.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a private interment at Graceland Cemetery with a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
