SAWYER - George Walter “Bud” Nordgren, 87, of Sawyer, passed away on January 19, 2006 at Woodland Terrace in Bridgman.

A private family graveside service will be held at Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman and a memorial service will be held at a later date at the Bethany Beach Tabernacle. Arrangements have been entrusted to Boyd-Pike Funeral Home, Bridgman.

Mr. Nordgren was born August 26, 1918 in Chicago, son of the late Walter and Anna (Hast) Nordgren. George owned and operated George’s True Value Hardware Store in Country Club Hills, Illinois. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII. He attended Harbert Community Church and was a member of Homewood Church. He served on the church board and taught adult Sunday School at Bellevue Baptist. For 25 years he was on the Board of Directors at Sunny Ridge Children’s Home in Wheaton, Illinois.

On May 10, 1941 he married Ethyl Lundgren and she survives him along with three children – Arlene (Donald) Wood of Arcadia, California, Jack (Maree) Nordgren of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Annette Nordgren of Hammond, Indiana; six grandchildren – Traci Hardesty, Jason Nordgren, Joshua Nordgren, Josiah Nordgren, David Wood and Cerissa Wood; four great grandchildren – Bethany Nordgren, Savannah Nordgren, Silas Nordgren and Nicholas Hardesty.
