Gerald Donald Grau, 78, of St. Joseph passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.

A memorial service will be held 11 AM Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Boyd Chapel of Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman. Friends may meet with the family from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to Stevensville American Legion Post 568, 3093 Johnson Rd, Stevensville, MI 49127.

Gerald was born December 25, 1938 in Benton Harbor, the son of the late Edward and Minnie (Wyman) Grau. On May 24, 1975 he married Beverly Ann Tabbert. He was a US Navy Veteran and a member of the Stevensville American Legion Post 568 and retired from Heathkit Corporation and Lakeshore Schools. Jerry was an avid golfer, bowler and enjoyed being outdoors. He volunteered his time at the Benton Harbor Moose Lodge 1570.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 42 years, Beverly; his children: Andrew (Melissa) Grau and Timothy Grau; also Jeffrey (Patty) Grau, Denise (Dave Nitz) Grau and Kristine (Jeffrey) Mahler and their mother: Sandra (Frank) Ballinger; step son: Charlie Scharnowske; grandchildren: Ashley and Carley Grau, Dustin Nitz, Kayla and Cody Mahler, Shelby and Drew Grau, Emily Temple and Macy Grau, Brittany and Brandi; step grandchildren: Brittany and Brandy Scharnowske; three step great grandchildren; a brother: Edward Grau and a sister, Edna McGath; and a life-long friend, Jerry Fast and friends Angel and Bruce Kool.
