Gerald Shields

Gerald “Jerry” Hugh Shields, 89, of Bridgman passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 22, 2022.

Jerry was born on January 18, 1933 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of the late Glenn and Helen (Lehmann) Shields. On January 18, 1986 he married Debra Dyer and they shared 36 years together. Jerry was a member of Harbert Community Church. He enjoyed to travel, read and spend time with his grandkids. Jerry enjoyed clocks, watches, and tinkering with electronics, especially radios. He also enjoyed going to microbreweries and made trips to visit them on vacations.

Survivors include his wife: Debra; children: Ted Shields, Brian Shields, and Jamison (Holly) Dyer; grandchildren: Catherine (Evan) Gerbo, Kelland Shields, Alana Dyer, Thomas Dyer; and sister: Kathleen Briggs.

Jerry was also preceded in death by a sister: Betty Hartfel; brother: Gene Shields; and a brother-in-law’s: Bob Briggs and Bill Hartfel.

Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman.
