Herman A. Steinke, 73, of Union Pier passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, August 18 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman with Rev. Christopher Noffke officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Friends may meet with the family from 2-5 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com.

Mr. Steinke was born March 20, 1935 in Morley, Michigan the son of the late Adolph and Jesse (Weeks) Steinke. On September 4, 1954, he married the former JoAnn Pruetz. Herman was a Journeyman Electrician and retired from IBEW 668 in Lafayette, Indiana.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, JoAnn; four children – H. Dean (Linda) Steinke of Bridgman, Karen (Fred) Ellingson of Chalfont, Pennsylvania, Kevin (Stacie) Steinke of McLean, Virginia, and Kristi (Tom) Marrapode of Naperville, Illinois; nine grandchildren – Ryan and Kyle Ellingson, Sarah and Leah Steinke, Adam, Nick, Ashley, Matt and Jake Marrapode; and a brother, Raymond (Jan) Steinke of Morley, Michigan.

Herman was also preceded in death by a sister, Irene Blackford.
