Ida Pearl Curtis, 89, of Stevensville passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at Hanson Hospice Center, in Stevensville surrounded by her family.
A funeral service will be held 11 AM on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Oakridge Community Church, 766 Oakridge Rd., St. Joseph, MI 49085. Friends may meet with the family from 10-11 AM on Saturday at the church, prior to the service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Tigerton, Wisconsin. Memorial contributions may be given to Oakridge Community Church. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com.
Ida was born on April 17, 1936 in Warrensburg, Missouri the daughter of Otis and Helen (Ridge) Shaw. Her mother died of complications of childbirth when Ida was born. Her maternal grandparents, Henry and Pearl Ridge took her in and gave her a wonderful home. She later lived with her Grandmother Snell in Colorado.
Ida graduated from South High School in Denver, Colorado in 1954. She was employed by Sears when she met Roger Curtis in 1957. Roger was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base. They were married January 18, 1958.
They moved several times and raised two daughters. Ida was employed by Sears, then Marine Credit Union, and National Mutual Benefit in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
As a Christian, Ida was a member of Immanuel Trinity in Fond du Lac, then Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Morris. She was involved in the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Embarrass River Lions Club. Most recently, she and Roger have been a part of the Oakridge Community Church’s family of faith in St. Joseph, Michigan.
After retirement, Roger and Ida would travel south for the winters and made many wonderful friends.
Ida is survived by her husband of 67 years, Roger; and their two daughters: Cathy (Frank) Grumbir and Caren (Dan) Larsh. She is further survived by five grandchildren: Christopher Erickson, Chad (Carrie) Larsh, Sarah Erickson, Amy Larsh, and Stephanie (Mark) Rutherford; and great-grandchildren: Jack, Luke, Alex, Lucy, Annie, and Hank Larsh, and Alya and Andy Rutherford. Ida is further survived by step-sisters: Louise (Bill) Barnes, Elaine (David) Howlett, and Arlene (Jim) Rosine; and step-brothers: Darrel Shaw and Kelvin (Susan) Shaw.
Ida was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Ridge Shaw; father, Otis; step-mother, Edith Shaw; and step-brothers: Gene and Ronald Shaw.
Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman.
