Jane Engel

Jane Pauline Engel, 71, born and raised in Baroda, passed into the arms of the Lord on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 11:50 PM at the Gilead Home of St. Joseph. SouthernCare Hospice of Kalamazoo had come into the Gilead Home to care for Jane Engel.

Jane was born February 22, 1939 in Baroda, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Florine (Kelm) Mischke. Jane was united in marriage to Herb Engel on July 24, 1965 and he survives

Back in the 1980's, Jane worked at Tabor Hill Winery and had done volunteer work at Lakeland Hospital. She loved to cook and take care of her home that her husband built. Her favorite dessert to bake was Sour Cream Coffee Cake. In her spare time, she loved to read and spend time with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her wonderful husband of 44 years, Herb Engel; two daughters – Annette (Ed) Aldridge of Stevensville and Maria Engel of Baroda; two beautiful grandchildren – Kaelie Aldridge and Issac Sawyer; one brother, James Mischke; two aunts, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her dad in 1973, her step-dad in 1993, an her mom in 2004; and one brother, Richard Mischke in 2005.

Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Monday, June 28 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, June 29 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Stevensville. Jane Pauline Engel will be laid to rest at Ruggles Cemetery, Baroda. Memorial contributions may be given to SouthernCare Hospice.
