Joan Vivian Stromer

Joan Vivian Stromer, 91, of St. Joseph, formerly of Union Pier and New Buffalo, passed away Monday, February 12, 2024 at Caretel Inns of St. Joseph.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman, MI 49106. Friends may meet with the family from 10-11 AM on Thursday at the funeral home, prior to the service. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo. Joan was born September 26, 1932 in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Emma (Raffel) Parr. On May 29, 1954 she married Joseph Stromer and he preceded her in death on August 16, 2012. She played piano and was a member at New Buffalo United Methodist Church. She worked at D.C. Cook Plant for ten years, retiring in 1992. Joan enjoyed golf, playing cards with the Town and Country Pinochle Club in Three Oaks and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She and Joe enjoyed their travels with the Sarett Nature Center.

Survivors include two children: Daniel (Jeanne Pavlic) Stromer and Laurel (Michael George) Stromer; and a grandson: Evan Stromer.

Joan was also preceded in death by her sister: Eleonora Vollrath.
