John Arthur Zelmer

John Arthur Zelmer, 66, of Berrien Springs, passed away on August 17, 2026, after a short battle with cancer.

Born and raised in Berrien County, John spent over 40 years working as a dedicated die-cast operator in Benton Harbor.

An outdoorsman at heart, John found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing at local lakes, spending weekends up north at Long Lake, and tending to his garden. Known for his hands-on nature, you could almost always find him tinkering with a vehicle. One of his favorite traditions was canning sauerkraut alongside his dad and brothers.

John is survived by his daughters: Kerrie (Kevin) Woolridge and Alexis (Jake) Gorske; his two grandchildren: Wesley and Bennett; and his brothers: Jim (Cindy) Zelmer and Jerry (Alice) Zelmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Edna Zelmer; and his sister, Barb Christy.
