Julie Darlene Burkett, 62, of Stevensville passed away on Friday September 30, 2016 in the care of her family following a courageous battle with cancer.

There will be a gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of Julie on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 4-7 pm at Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman, followed by a prayer and moment of reflection at 7 PM. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, Stevensville MI 49085. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com.

Julie was born September 27, 1954 in St. Joseph, the daughter of the late Marlin and Dorothy (Layman) Gunkel. On June 28, 1985 she married Ronald B. Burkett. Julie was a graduate of Lakeshore High School and worked at Martin’s Super Market, Stevensville.

Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Ronald of Stevensville; children: Michelle (Troy) Ballard, Jason (Sarah) Burkett and Erika Burkett all of Stevensville; three grandchildren: Jacob Williams, Sydney Williams and Brayden Angelo; two sisters: Karen (John) Heckert of Stevensville and Diana (John) Thomas of Cary, IL; two sisters-in-law: Colleen Gunkel of Stevensville and Marie Gunkel of Bridgman.

Julie was also preceded in death by two brothers: Larry and Gary Gunkel
