Leona Nitz, 101, of Baroda passed away Monday, January 29, 2018 at Royalton Manor in St. Joseph, Michigan

Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Thursday, February 1, 2018 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9193 Cleveland Ave. Baroda with Reverend Dr. James M. Morgan officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 5 - 7 pm Wednesday, January 31 at the Boyd Chapel of Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman. Burial will be in Ruggles Cemetery, Baroda. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Baroda.

Leona was born September 30, 1916 in Baroda the daughter of the late Lee and Ruth (Ebert) Lemon. On March 11, 1939, she married Max Martin Nitz and they shared their lives for 44 years until his death in 1983. She graduated from Baroda High School and was a homemaker. Leona was a faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She is survived her children: daughters, Patricia (Carl) Heald, Ruth (Ace) Skinner; sons, Richard Nitz and Ronald (Mary) Nitz; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren.

Leona was also preceded in death by a son, Max Nitz; great granddaughter Angela Nitz-Leitch; sister, Susan Vincent and brothers, Leonard and Oliver Lemon.

Wednesday January 31, 2018 , 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel
