Loie Elaine Rokely, 88, of Bridgman, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at The Willows in St. Joseph.

A memorial service will be held 11 AM Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman. Friends may meet with the family from 10 - 11 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Bridgman. Memorial contributions may be made to The Willows, Hospice at Home or Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Loie was born February 2, 1928 in Bridgman, the daughter of the late Roy and Hulda (Stelter) Anderson, Sr. On July 22, 1950 Loie married Eugene B. Rokely and shared 64 years together. Loie was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a retired Registered Nurse having trained at St. Luke’s-Rush in Chicago. When they moved to Niles she was Head Nurse at Pawating Hospital. Loie was also in private practice with Dr. Donald Downing in Bridgman. After his retirement, Loie opened a clothing store named “Jan and Scott Shop” - “Tots to Teens” for five years. Loie was also president of the Bridgman Women’s Club. Loie loved to travel; summers on Paw Paw Lake, and winters in Nokomis, Florida where she also played keyboard and belonged to the Venice Art Gallery. Loie started painting in her early fifties. She belonged to the Berrien Artists Guild as well as Krasl Art Center. She was one of many instrumental in starting the Box Factory in St. Joseph.

Survivors include her children: Scott (Patricia) Rokely of Dewitt, MI, Jan Rokely of Bridgman; grandchildren: Amy Rhew, Brett Rhew, Rick Rokely; great grandchildren: Brielle Rhew and Vaughn Rhew; and brother: Roy (Donna) Anderson Jr. of Bridgman.

Loie was also preceded in death by her sister: Betty Jane Anderson.
