Loraine Holden

Loraine Holden, 87, of Stevensville passed away on Monday, October 27, 2008 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.

A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Loraine’s life will be held at the family home on Sunday, November 2 from 1-6 PM. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to the Humane Society, American Cancer Society, or Lake Michigan Catholic Schools.

Loraine was born July 12, 1921 in Nashville the daughter of the late John and Julie (Gundlach) Scheer. On September 3, 1943 she married Charles L. Holden in Chicago. Loraine had a great love for people (especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren) and animals. Her passions included cooking and tennis, which she played actively until age 72. She had many friends, all of whom loved and cared for her very much.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to all the healthcare workers from Caretel, LTAC, and Lakeland Medical Center who provided care and support throughout the past several months.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Charles; four children – Charles Holden, Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky, Susan Adent of Bridgman, Deborah (William Corbett) Holden of Traverse City, and Julie (Bob) Cooper of Brighton, Michigan; a son-in-law, Carl Bossung of South Bend; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Loraine was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jan Bossung; a son-in-law, Richard Adent; four sisters and three brothers.
