Lucy Lee Chmura, 94, of Bridgman, formerly of Detroit, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at West Woods of Bridgman.
A graveside service was held Friday, October 7, 2016 at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, 38425 Garfield Road, Charter Township of Clinton, MI 48038. Memorial contributions may be given towards the needs of the family through the funeral home or Barbara Chmura.
Lucy was born January 26, 1922 in Huntsville, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Drucinda (Marcum) Jeffers. Lucy loved her family above all and was always eager to hop in the car and go around town. For most of her life, she was a working women - a Rosie the Riveter, factory worker, caregiver, wife, and mother. Think of her when you hear her favorite songs, "You Are My Sunshine" and "The Tennessee Waltz".
Survivors include her children: Barbara Chmura, John (Hildegard) Chmura, Lynne (Robert, Jr.) Siemon, Michael (Julianne) Chmura; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Lucy was also preceded in death by her husband: Henry W. Chmura in 1997; as well as one brother, Tommy Jeffers, and six sisters, Nettie Jones, Maude Ganoe, Laura Jeffers, Flora Sexton, Mary Tucker, and Rebecca Reagon.
