Margaret "Maggie" Ann Mendus

Margaret “Maggie” Ann Mendus, 79 of Bridgman passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Corewell Health South, St. Joseph.

 A memorial service will be held 11 AM Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, Boyd Chapel. 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman. Friends may meet with the family from 10-11 AM prior to the service. Final resting place will be at Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman.  Maggie was born on February 7, 1945 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Norman and Alma (Brouk) Kraeft. On August 9, 1969 she married Michael Mendus. Maggie graduated from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo with both a Bachelor and Master’s degree in education. She taught elementary and middle school for 27 years, most of those years for the Bridgman Public Schools. Her family and friends were important to her, and her grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Maggie found great satisfaction in writing, reading, playing and teaching piano. She published a book of poetry in March of 2011.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Michael; daughter: Molly (Brad) Owen; son: Christopher Mendus; grandchildren: Brandon and Mikaela Owen, Sophia Mendus, Alley Brown, and their mother, Kelly; a brother: Thomas (Linda) Kraeft.
