Marie Long

Marie Elizabeth Long, 82, of Bridgman passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Glendora with Rev. Thomas R. Brazinsky officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Friends may meet with the family from 6-8 PM Friday at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Glendora.

Mrs. Long was born August 6, 1926 in Three Oaks the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Felsing) Freehling. On August 20, 1949 she married Robert D. Long. Together with her husband, they owned and operated Long Distributing. Marie was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Glendora. She was a great wife, mother, and grandmother and loved to travel with the grandkids. In the later years, she especially enjoyed her visits with her great grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Robert; two children – Robert (Kathy) Long, Jr. and Pamela (Rodger) Kelm all of Bridgman; six grandchildren – Chad (Nichole) Stewart, Stacey (Matt) Sprague, Kelsey Kelm, Jodie Long, Robert Long III, and Kari (Jeff) Bell; and five great grandchildren – Karsyn Stewart, Kaylee Sprague, Cooper Stewart, Maddi Williams, and Mason Bell.

Marie was also preceded in death by a brother, Adam Freehling; a sister, Katie Eudix; and three brothers before coming to the United States
