Marty Helfman

Martha “Marty” Louise Helfman, 64, of Bridgman passed away on Monday, January 23, 2012 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, January 27 2012 at Lake Michigan Christian Center, 9955 Church Street, Bridgman with Reverend David Rueb officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family from 6 - 8 PM Thursday at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman. Memorial contributions may be given to the Southshore Concert Band.

Marty was born February 21, 1947 in Searcy, Arkansas, the daughter of Guy and Rose (Freeman) Wilson. She was a graduate of Bridgman High School and enjoyed playing her saxophone in the Southshore Concert Band. Marty was employed the past 9 years at the Bethel Park Retreat Center, Bridgman. She was a member of Lake Michigan Christian Center and spent her free time researching her family history and genealogy.

Survivors include her sons - Paul (Valerie) Helfman of Fort Irwin, California and David (Lisa) Helfman of Coloma; six grandchildren - Katrina, Danielle, Nicholas, Aryn, Austin and Shelby; her mother - Rose Wilson and a brother - Jerry (Lori) Wilson both of Bridgman.

Marty was preceded in death by her father, Guy Wilson in 2005
