Mary L. McCarthy, 87, formerly of Homewood, IL for 55 years, passed away suddenly, but peacefully, November 3, 2013 at Smith Crossing in Orland Park, her home of the past 8 years.

Born in Chicago, December 7, 1925, to Joseph and Louise Masterson. Graduated Calumet High School and Fox Secretarial School. Employed by Rock Island Railroad prior to marriage, and by St. Paul Community Church from 1984-2003. Volunteer for PTA and Homewood Historical Society.

Dear sister to Barbara Lutz of Kalispell, MT, formerly of Mendota. Cherished wife for 51 years to the late Daniel L. Beloved mother to Robert, of La Jolla, CA; Daniel, of Harbert, MI; and Mary (David Borth) of Palatine. Devoted grandmother to Alexander and Logan McCarthy; Bridget, Jeffrey, and Brian Borth. Laid to rest November 9th at Riverside Cemetery, Three Oaks, MI.

Arrangements by Pike FH, Bridgman, MI (with assistance from Colonial Chapel, Orland Park). Memorial service planned for Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 2:30pm (visitation with family 1:15-2:15): St. Paul Community Church, 18200 Dixie Hwy, Homewood. Donations to St. Paul Community Church, Alzheimer's Foundation of America (www.alzdn.org), or Smith Crossing-Emilie's Fund (www.smithcrossing.org) appreciated.
