Mary Walton

Mary (Ganus) Walton, age 87 of Berrien Springs, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017 with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born to the late Willis Branscum and Oma Passmore Branscum on July 25, 1929.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017, at Baroda Church of God, 5020 Cleveland Avenue, Stevensville with Pastor Cathy A. Ganus officiating. Interment will be in Ruggles Cemetery, Baroda. Friends may meet with the family from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to the service. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to Baroda Church of God.

Family and friends were Mary’s passion and delight. She grew up in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas where life was tough but family was everything. She loved to host and entertain and frequently had fish frys at her house. Her real passion was delighting in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary worked at Multech in Baroda for over 20 years where she made many lasting friendships.

Mary is survived by her children: David (Janet) Ganus of Buchanan; Betty Walton of Berrien Springs; Timothy (Cathy) Ganus of Buchanan, and Joan (Roger) Murray of Berrien Springs. Also surviving are her grandchildren Kimberly (Robert) Walters, Sandra (Bruce) Arend, Leonard (Tracy) Callahan, Melissa (Rich) Murdock, Brianna Gleason, Thomas (Carolyn) Walton, Carl Walton, Anita (Eric) Rimes, Sarah (Nicholas) Williams, Matthew (Kaylee) Ganus, Tyler (Abigail) Ganus, Benjamin (Shelby Fortune) Ganus, Clifford (Jessica) Rogers, David Rogers, and Mark (Paige) Rogers. Mary is also survived by special friend Carol Stuckey of New Troy. In addition, she had 20 great-grandchildren with another on the way. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husbands William R. Ganus and J. Edward Walton. Also preceding Mary in death were her parents; brother’s EG Branscum and Louis Branscum; daughter Bonnie Phillips; sons-in-law Bobby G. Rogers, Thomas S. Walton, and Rick Phillips; and grandson Billy Walker.
