Maryann Prien, 81, of Baroda passed away peacefully at home on February 24, 2018.

The family will greet friends at a Celebration of Life 2:00-5:00 p.m., Saturday, April 21, 2018 with a memory-sharing time at 3:00 at Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman. Memorials can be made in her name to the Humane Society of SW Michigan or St. Judes Childrens Research Center. Maryann was born September 7, 1936 in Chicago, the fifth child and only daughter of the late John and Katherine (Schaefer) Schaller. Moving to Michigan in 1941 she graduated Valedictorian from Baroda High School in 1954. She married Paul Prien on August 25, 1956. They were married 47 years until his death in 2003. She attended Western Michigan University and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. She worked for Theisen Clemens Co. for 6 years . She retired in 1991 after 30 years from MI Dept. of Social Services (now FIA) serving as caseworker, supervisor and services administrator. She also authored and managed Project Teamwork receiving the award of Regional Manager. She adored her cats, was a talented painter, poet and the family historian. She touched the lives of many, leaving a legacy of thoughtfulness, without denying her feisty character!

Survivors include brothers Henry Schaller and Fred (Laura) Schaller, 11 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul and brothers John and Robert Schaller, one niece and two nephews.
