Michael was born on September 21, 1952 in South Bend to the late Francis and Helen Hahaj. He was a 32-year employee of Bosch, prior to his retirement. After retiring, he worked for Lake Township and the City of Bridgman, keeping the parks mowed and clean. Michael served his country in the US Army as a military policeman in Germany. Michael loved his wife, Pam, and family with every ounce of his heart. He rarely missed any of his grandkids’ events. Michael was an accomplished outdoorsman, amazing fisherman, and hunter of whitetail deer. His trips to deer camp throughout his life were treasured, and especially liked trolling for salmon on Lake Michigan. Michael enjoyed activities like bowling, golf, softball, poker and coaching youth baseball. He was most proud of being the Vice Commander at the Bridgman American Legion Post 331. You could find him cooking chicken wings there every Wednesday evening. On Saturday afternoons in the fall, Michael would always be cheering on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team with his family and friends. Most of all, Michael loved people. He would drop anything he was doing to help others. He will be deeply missed by those who love him.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Pam Hahaj; children: Kelly Hahaj-Mendus and Justin (Kelly) Hahaj; four grandchildren: Alley, Sophia, Colton, and Tinley; sister, Anne (Dave) White; and brother, Thomas (Debbie) Hahaj.
Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman.
