Mildred “Millie” Louise Krieger Dolezel passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 just as she wanted, at home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5791 Sawyer Rd, Sawyer, MI 49125 with Pastor Brandon Wittig officiating. Friends may meet with the family 10 - 11 AM prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Millie was born at home in Sawyer, MI to Robert and Ernestine (Schmidt) Krieger on October 9, 1928. On October 18, 1947 she was united in marriage to Jean Dolezel in Three Oaks, MI and she continued to live in the home they built for 77 years.
She worked for several years at Zeiger Lumber in Sawyer and then for many years before retiring from Heath Co/Zenith Data Systems in St. Joseph in 1995. Since retiring Millie was a fixture at Bridgman and River Valley basketball games rooting on various grandchildren and other relatives. She enjoyed reading and shared that love with all her children. An accomplished baker, she always had cookies ready and she knew who liked which variety. She also enjoyed the polka dances at the DANK.
Survivors include Cheryl Dolezel and her children Beth (Shane) Lewis, Heidi (Tony Payne) Skinner, Jack (Jess) Skinner and Lindsey (Nathan Peck) Clements; James Dolezel and his children Jeremy (Jessie) Dolezel and Corey (Paige) Dolezel; Michele (Richard) Kiel and their children Adam (Laura) Kiel and Brooke (Nick) Bell; Robin Chalmers (Al Zemola) and her children Samuel (Melody Ransom) Chalmers Jr. and Anthony Chalmers; Sue (Dennis) Busse and their children Dennis (Sara Walker) Busse Jr. and Lauren Busse; 19 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; sister, Arlene Harfert; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Jean; her mother and step father, Ernestine and Richard Scovel; her father, Robert Krieger Sr.; infant daughter, Marcia Arlene; beloved granddaughter, Nicole Chalmers; brothers: Chester (Opal) Krieger and Robert (Joan) Krieger Jr.; sisters: Ruby (Weldon) May, Virginia (Walter) Freyer, LaVerne (Harold) Zeiger; brother-in-law, Raymond Harfert, step brother, Carter Scovel, and daughter-in-law Laura Dolezel.
Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman.
