Listen to Obituary

Nancy Jean DiCicco, 64, of Berrien Springs, Michigan, died peacefully on May 11, 2026.

Throughout her life, Nancy carried herself with a strong, determined, and independent spirit. Those closest to her knew that Nancys feisty independence was just a protective wrapping she placed around her deeply loving heart.

Nancy was born on July 20, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan, the youngest daughter of Bernard and Virginia (Hartsig) DiCicco, who preceded her in death. Their memories remained an enduring part of her life. She grew up in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan, surrounded by the values of hard work, faith and family that would guide her throughout her life.

After graduating from Grosse Pointe North High School with the class of 1979, Nancy went on to build a life marked by devotion to those she loved. Nancy worked in the insurance industry for over twenty-five years. Later, she became the owner of The Vagabond Girls Artisan and Vintage Marketplace and The Vagabond Girls Boutique, businesses that reflected her creativity, warmth, and eye for beauty, before retiring in 2024.

Nancy had a gift for making people laugh and an easy way of connecting with others in conversation. She was quick to offer reassurance and steady support to those she loved when they needed it most. Nancy was wonderfully creative and had a way of bringing glass to life through her mosaic pieces and by fusing glass into art. Nancy especially enjoyed spending time with those she loved, being by the lake and stopping on her adventures to find little diamonds in the rough that she could polished into a new life through reimagined art.

On November 7, 2013, Nancy married Diane L. Scott in Dubuque, Iowa. Together they built a life centered on deep love, laughter, shared adventures, and blended cherished friendships that became family.

Nancy is survived by her wife, Diane Scott-DiCicco; siblings: Deborah Zaremba, Cynthia (Mario) Ferrari, David (Kathleen) DiCicco, and Ronald (Teresa “Terry”) DiCicco; cousin, Kim Mayer; her nieces and nephews; and the recent arrival of her greats, Gabriel and Juliette, all of whom she absolutely adored.

Nancy also leaves behind her “family of love”: Diane (Damian) Booth, Jay Bry, Blake Sanders, Annabell and Erhardt Ballschmidt, and Ruby Blu. Ruby joined the family at the same time Nancy enrolled in hospice services and Ruby immediately took her role as a therapy dog very seriously. She matched Nancy’s pace, nap for nap, and stayed by her side like Velcro.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Corewell Health hospice team for the wonderful care and support provided to Nancy at home and at Hanson Hospice Center.

Nancy’s memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to her family and friends, who will continue to cherish the love, laughter, and countless special moments they shared with her.

In keeping with Nancy’s wishes, no services will be held. Her preference for celebrating her life was simple: encouraging all of us to go out and fully live our own.

Memorial contributions in Nancy’s honor may be made to: Second Chance Small Dog Rescue (Elkhart, Indiana) who entrusted us with Miss Ruby Blu or to Friends of Berrien County Animal Services (Benton Harbor, Michigan) who brought us the sassy and spunky Miss Anna Belle. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com.

Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman
