Naomi Louise Franzmann, was born June 1, 1944, to Lothar and Edna Sieker, in White Fish Bay, Wisconsin, the youngest of 3 children. At nine years old she was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes. Though doctors said she wouldn’t live past 35, the Lord had great plans for Naomi and kept her in good health for most of her 81 years. She married Curt Franzmann and they raised their son. The Lord, whom she loved, called her home on June 29, 2025. But not before she touched the lives of so many people in positive ways.
The Lord blessed Naomi with a strong faith and trust in Jesus Christ as her Savior. And she shared her faith and God’s love, with everyone.
She loved, especially, her family and wrote weekly letters to her grandsons, often adding cartoons, riddles and interesting pictures and articles. Those who knew her would tell you Naomi was always thinking of other, giving help and encouragement, and seeing positive in every situation. She was very grateful for the gifts and help she received from others and kept the post office busy with her many thank you notes. Naomi was creative and artistic, loved her many dogs and cats and the beauty of horses and nature. She even trained her service dogs to alert her when her blood sugar was low. In the summer you would find her tending her beautiful gardens, even as the sun went down.
Naomi was a strong advocate for the unborn and was proud of her role in establishing the Pregnancy Counseling Center in Benton Harbor and counseling young women there. She also worked for the Safe Shelter which protected battered women. And she spoke boldly to high school students about the importance of abstinence until marriage.
Most of her career was spent cooking. Savoring Thyme was a business Naomi started, in which she would prepare a weeks’ worth of meals at time for a family or individual. She enjoyed cooking and baking and worked at several fine restaurants and also at the hospital.
In her later years her love for children led her to volunteer as a foster grandparent and sponsor several children through Compassion International. She also provided spiritual guidance to inmates as a prison ministry mentor.
Naomi’s surviving family will remember her dearly. Son, Samuel Franzmann and Lisa, grandsons, Leo, Quinn and Logan Franzmann and Jacob Jakubowski. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is joyfully reunited in heaven with her parents, brother, John Sieker and sister, Charlotte Dropp.
Naomi’s body was laid to rest on July 2, 2025 at Ruggles Cemetery in Baroda, Michigan.
