Nicholas Leonard "Nick" Nitz

Nicholas Leonard “Nick” Nitz passed away unexpectedly in his home on July 22, 2026 in Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 38.

His family invites you to join them in celebrating Nick’s life from 1-4 PM on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at the Weesaw Township Fire Department, 13518 State Street, New Troy. Casual attire is welcome, and food will be provided. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com

Nick was born November 24, 1987 in St. Joseph, MI to his parents Ted Nitz and Sheri Seay. He was later blessed with step-parents, Thomas Seay and Kelly Nitz.

After graduating from high school, Nick eventually made his home in Arizona. He took great pride in Lucky’s Indoor Outdoor, a place that became an important part of his life and allowed him to connect with so many people. Though miles separated him from much of his family, he built a life surrounded by friends who became family, music, books, and memories that reflected the person he was. The number of people who loved Nick extends far beyond his relatives, and the stories and memories shared by his friends are a testament to the impact he had during his 38 years.

Music was a big part of Nick’s life. He was a talented drummer who played in several bands over the years, making friends and memories along the way. He loved music in all its forms, but there was always something especially satisfying to him about a strong beat and the way a drummer could bring a song to life. Music gave him a way to express himself and brought him closer to the people around him.

Nick’s life was reflected in the things he loved and the people he cared about: the music he played, the books he read, the knowledge he shared, the friendships he built, the animals he cherished, and the many stories he left behind. Each of these memories offers a glimpse of who he was and the lasting impression he made on those around him.

For those who knew Nick, there will always be something that brings him immediately to mind—a familiar song, the beat of a good drum, a well-loved book, a beloved animal, a dime found on the ground, a chessboard, a sarcastic comment, or some completely random piece of information that makes you think, “Nick would know this.”

Nick was preceded in death by his stepfather, Thomas Seay; his grandparents, Gloria and Leonard Nitz and Ellen and Donald Andres; his uncles, Tom Nitz and Terry Nitz; and his aunt, Sally Busch as well as his beloved Cat Chuck.

He is survived by his mother, Sheri Seay; his father, Ted Nitz; his stepmother, Kelly Nitz; and his siblings, Rachel (Gary) Brooks, Holly (Matthew) Seay-Pelak, Adina (Ritchey) Acree, Jasmine (Jonathon) Punches, Kady (Chris) Swope, Tommy (Paige) Seay, and Jade (Michael) Ciprian. Grandparents: John and Mary Bolin; Uncles: Tim (Teri) Nitz, Todd (Sherri) Nitz, Brad Andres and George Busch; and Aunts: Alice (Jerry) Vance, Tammy (Jack) Ross, and Mendy (Nathaniel) Britton. He is also survived by 19 nieces and nephews and four great-nieces and great-nephews, his beloved dog Rugger along with extended family and countless friends who loved him deeply.
