Rita Theresa Raab, 94, of Bridgman, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Woodland Terrace in Bridgman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 3903 Lake Street, Bridgman with Father Arthur Howard as celebrant. Friends may meet with the family from 10 - 11 AM at the church prior to the service. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, St. Joseph.
Rita was born on Thursday, February 8, 1923 in St. Joseph to the late John J. and Margaret (Feiner) McDermott. Her father was a doctor in St. Joseph and her mother was a homemaker. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School. Rita married Walter Raab and they shared 41 years of marriage until his death in September of 1991. Rita had many interests including: traveling, bird watching, flower gardening, and watching beautiful sunsets while listening to music on the shores of Lake Michigan. She enjoyed a good glass of wine now and then. Rita was a devout Catholic and a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bridgman. She was blessed with many friends and staff at Woodland Terrace including Sally and Terry Thomas and caretaker, Mary Kennedy.
Rita is survived by her sister: Marian McDermott Fritz; her brother: Vincent McDermott; and many nieces and nephews throughout the United States.
Rita was also preceded in death by her brothers: Russell, Robert, and Bernard.
