It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and matriarch, Rosario "Rosie" Canal Botero, who peacefully entered into eternal rest on the morning of July 18, 2026, at 11:57 a.m., in Mishawaka, Indiana, at the age of 86, held in the arms of those who cherished her and surrounded by immeasurable love.

Born to Felipe Canal and Carmen LaTorre on April 3, 1940, in Cúcuta, Colombia, Rosie lived a life defined by love, faith, generosity, and unconditional devotion to her family. She possessed a rare elegance that came not only from her style and poise, but from the kindness, humility, and grace with which she treated everyone she met.

Rosie was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Omar Botero-Paramo, with whom she built a lifetime of love, partnership, and family. Together they raised four children—Tatiana, Omar, Paula, and Mauricio instilling in them strong values, integrity, compassion, and an enduring commitment to family. Throughout her husband's entrepreneurial journey, Rosie was his steadfast partner, offering constant encouragement, sacrifice, and unconditional support.

Nothing brought Rosie greater joy than her family. She was an extraordinary mother and played an integral role in raising not only her children but also her grandchildren, becoming a constant source of wisdom, comfort, and unconditional love throughout their lives. Her influence helped shape the lives of Lucas, Andrés, Felipe, Camila, Daniela, Julián, and Alexandra, and she was blessed with the joy of knowing her great-grandson, Arlo, whose arrival brought her immense happiness.

As a devout Catholic, Rosie lived her faith every day through quiet acts of kindness, compassion, forgiveness, and service. She never sought recognition or praise, believing instead that the greatest purpose in life was to love others well. Her home was always open, her heart always generous, and her embrace always comforting.

Rosie embraced life with enthusiasm and gratitude. She loved music, reading, traveling, and dancing, and she carried a joyful spirit wherever she went. She was always smiling, often singing, and never missed an opportunity to celebrate life's special moments with those she loved. Her laughter was contagious, her optimism unwavering, and her remarkable ability to see the best in others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

To her family, Rosie was the heart that held everyone together. She taught by example that love is measured not by words, but by daily acts of sacrifice, generosity, patience, and kindness. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the values she passed down, and the countless memories that will continue to inspire generations to come.

While her passing leaves an immeasurable void, we find comfort in knowing that her love will remain forever woven into our lives. We will miss her deeply, celebrate her always, and carry her memory in our hearts for the rest of our days.

Rosie is survived by her loving ex-husband, Omar Botero-Paramo; her children, Tatiana, Omar, Paula, and Mauricio; her grandchildren, Lucas, Andrés, Felipe, Camila, Daniela, Julián, and Alexandra; her great-grandson, Arlo; and many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were forever enriched by her love.

A Memorial Mass celebrating Rosie's beautiful life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at St Augustine Catholic Church in South Bend, Indiana. Family and friends are invited to join in prayer, remembrance, and thanksgiving as we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a woman deeply loved.
