Roy Henry Forraht

Roy Henry Forraht, 87, of Berrien Springs, passed away peacefully at home with family present on Sunday, December 14, 2025, after a yearlong battle with cancer.

A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, December 19, 2025 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1733 Glendora Rd., Buchanan, MI 49107. Friends may meet with the family from 10 AM until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Berrien Springs. Roy was born on April 21, 1937, in Baroda, to Alma and Henry Forraht. He graduated from New Troy High in 1957. After graduation he attended one year of college at Lake Michigan College. He met and married Sally Jane Brown of Berrien Springs, MI, on May 19, 1961, and together they had three children. Roy was a life-long member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Glendora, MI, and he was a veteran. He served in the United States Army and Air National Guard. Roy held various jobs including the Farmers Exchange, the Three Oaks Ford dealership, Clark Equipment, Oldenburg Excavating, Whirlpool and Ausco. He and Sally purchased the farm in 1967 and Roy enjoyed farming ever since. He was an excellent fabricator and welder. He designed and made his own equipment. He loved being out in fields, checking on crops, and driving tractors.

Roy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sally Jane (Brown) Forraht and three children: Doug (Suzy) Forraht, Jennifer (Geoff) Cummings, and Donnalee Forraht. Roy has seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who will miss him. He is also survived by sister, Betty (Mike) Backus.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Alma (Hemming) Forraht.
