Ruben Newman

Ruben Benjamin Newman, 86, of Stevensville passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Jordan’s Life Care Center in Bridgman.

Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 2 - 4 PM at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman.

Ruben was born March 2, 1927 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, the son of the late August and Mary (Kruger) Newman. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stevensville. Rube, along with his brother, Paul, owned Newman Real Estate. In the early 70’s they developed a number of communities adding hundreds of homes in the Stevensville and Lakeshore area. Later, Rube started Rube Newman Real Estate, a property management company.

Survivors include his children - David Newman of Royal Oak, MI , Karen Newman of California, Nancy Newman of Kalamazoo, Julie Musick (Randy) of Ohio, Daniel (Christie) Newman of Stevensville; 11 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

Ruben was also preceded by three brothers John, Paul and Leonard; and two sisters – Madelyn and Helen.
