Ruth Barbour

Ruth Evelyn Barbour, 99, of Bridgman, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2008 at Lakeland Specialty Hospital, Berrien Center.

Mrs. Barbour was born July 20, 1908 in Chicago the daughter of the late Henry and Clara (Sauer) Miller. On January 8, 1927 she married Joseph Barbour. He preceded her in death on August 31, 1980 after 53 years of marriage. Ruth was a member of Christian United Church of Christ in Sawyer, the New Troy American Legion Auxiliary, and Lakeland Auxiliary. She volunteered for many years at Lakeland, Berrien General and Cook County Hospitals, and the River Valley Senior Center in Harbert.

Survived By her son, Gerald (Pat) Barbour of Buchanan; three grandsons – David (Pattie) Barnes, John Barbour, and Robert (Carrie) Barbour; and three great granddaughters – Clara Barnes, Sydney Barnes, and Ava Barbour Preceded in Death By two sisters, Maxine Fanning and Myrtle Geske; and a brother, Gordon Miller.
