Ruth was born on December 5, 1931 the daughter of the late Johannes and Albertine (Mann) Befuss in Soldin, Germany. When she was 13 years old, Russian soldiers came in and took over her hometown. She and her family were displaced, enduring the hardship of war, and its aftermath. After the conflict ended, the land where she had grown up became part of Poland. Eventually, Ruth and her mother moved to Canada where they had relatives. While living in Winnipeg she met Rudi K Eichendorff. They were married on April 10, 1954 at the Church of God in Winnipeg where they met. Just a few years later, they immigrated to the United States where they became citizens. Rudi and Ruth were married almost exactly 65 years when Rudi passed on April 7, 2019.
Ruth and her husband enjoyed spending their winters in Florida. They had a wonderful group of church friends there and loved having their grandchildren visit whenever they could. Her grandchildren and Great grandchildren brought her so much joy.
Ruth enjoyed her flower gardens, baking streusel Cakes, making photo albums of family and trips they took. She also did quite a bit of sewing in her earlier years.
Survivors include her children: Rudy Eichendorff and Dolly (John) Baird; three grandchildren: Jonathan (Hannah) Baird, Christopher (Samantha) Baird, and Kaitlyn (fiancé, Mason Chubb) Baird; and three great grandchildren: Blair, Elliott, and Everleigh.
Ruth was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman.
