Tamara Nitz, 71, of Baroda passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.

A funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman with Reverend Bradley A. Ross officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 10 - 11 Thursday, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, PO Box 67, Baroda, MI 49101. A live stream of the funeral service may be seen below at 11 AM Thursday.

Tamara was born December 26, 1944 in Benton Harbor, the daughter of the late Emil and Mary (Pletcher) Ott. Tammy married Max A. Nitz on June 27, 1964 and he proceeded her in death on December 16, 2015. Tamara loved doing word puzzles. She and Max loved their flower gardens.

Survivors include her children: Merry Castle of Baroda, Max Nitz Jr. of Baroda, David (Denise Grau) Nitz of St. Joseph, Sherry (Ben) Nitz-Lentz of Baroda; grandchildren: Dustin and Alex Nitz, Peyton Nitz-Lentz, Christina Castle; siblings: Mick (Bonnie) Ott of Battle Creek, Mary (Ronald) Nitz of Baroda; and sister-in-law: Peggy Ott of Baroda.

Tamara was also preceded in death by a granddaughter - Angela Nitz-Leitch in 2013; and a brother - Thomas Ott.
