Tylor James Birmingham

Tylor James Birmingham, 57, of St. Joseph passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at home.

A gathering of family and friends will be held 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Pebblewood Restaurant & Banquet Center, 9794 Jericho Rd., Bridgman, MI 49106. Tylor was born on June 29, 1969 in Bridgman the son of Teddy and Barbara (Andrews) Birmingham. He had a sunny attitude as a child which he carried throughout life. Growing up in Bridgman he was a known athlete who set records in swimming and track while gaining football scholarship offers. When not competing, it wouldn’t be unusual to see Tylor driving around town in his El Camino, listening to good music, sporting a Mickey Mouse t-shirt, and picking up Roma’s pizza. After the Homecoming King left Bee Town he spent a short stint in Holland before settling in Kalamazoo for quite some time, making forever friendships. Tylor ended up moving to Fort Wayne, IN where he became a Licensed Practical Nurse, a Hospice Nurse most recently, which was one of his many special callings; taking great pride in helping others with the goal of getting people to smile even during difficult times. He married the former Heather Weiss, whom he deeply loved, and she preceded him in death on June 19, 2022. Just prior to Heather’s passing, they adopted the sweetest dog named Belle who brought much joy to Tylor. Speaking of joy, he found it in collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia, solving the Rubik’s cube, talking about good music while listening to it loudly, taking photos of nature, collecting baseball cards, lighting off fireworks, supporting the Chicago White Sox and Seattle SeaHawks, drinking Coca-Cola, preparing and sharing a good meal, and much more. While he could easily be the life of the party, he preferred smaller groups and one-on-one connections where deep conversations happened and memories were made. Tylor held doors, tipped well, and would give the shirt off his back to his best pals or strangers alike. He loved his family and his friends with fierce dedication and immense support. No matter the circumstances, Tylor always said, “Life is good!”

Survivors include his mother, Barbara DeWees; brother, Tad Birmingham; step-brother, Robert Molish; step-sons: Jacob (Lindsay) Daniels and Carter Daniels; step-grandchildren: Adelynn, Haven, Azariah, Sawyer, and Oaklynn; uncles and aunts: Ron (Colleen) Birmingham, DeRoss (Bobbie) Andrews, Wayne (Marilyn) Andrews, Joan Reilly, and Janice Bickers; cousins: Nicole Birminham, Brandon (Lisa) Birmingham, Tony (Terena) Freehling, Tony Pintcke, Jackie Witt, Phillip Andrews, Patrick Andrews, Jayne Andrews, David Andrews, Steven Andrews, Sandy Andrews, and Parker Reilly; many extended family members including second cousins: Harper Moersch, Ava Birmingham, Breckin Moersch, and Kara Birmingham; best friend, Bruce Williams; and an abundance of dear and cherished friends.

Tylor was preceded in death by his wife, Heather; father, Teddy Birmingham; and step-father, Barry DeWees.
