Virginia “Ginger” Francis Nitz, 85, of Baroda passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026 at home.
A memorial service will be held 11 AM on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 9193 Cleveland Ave., Baroda, MI 49101 with Rev. Kenneth Babcock officiating. Friends may meet with the family prior to the service on Thursday from 10-11 AM at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or St. Johns Lutheran Church, PO Box 67, Baroda, MI 49101. Ginger was born on December 15, 1940 in Georgetown, Arkansas the daughter of the late Ray and Hixie (Shanks) Baker. On June 23, 1967 she married Kenneth Nitz. Ginger was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Baroda. She loved boating, traveling, gardening, and the board game Aggravation.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Kenneth; children: Michelle (Brian) Snodgrass, Dana (Robbie Craig) Nitz, Charlene (Rick) Maloney, Steven (Josefina) Nitz, and Cheryl (Monte) Miller; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Carolyn (Ed) Rath; and brother, Danny Baker.
Ginger was also preceded in death by brothers: Bud and Bill Baker; and sisters: Katherine Ball, Mae Hickman, Myerl Carrington, Faye Benson, and Yvonne Radosevich.
Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman.
