William Skiba, Jr.

William Edward Skiba, Jr, 79, of St. Joseph formerly of Bridgman, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland.

A Gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7  PM, Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the Boyd Chapel of Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman. A private interment will take place. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bridgman Fire Department, 9765 Maple Street, Bridgman, MI 49106 or St. Joseph Lincoln Senior Center, 3271 Lincoln Ave., St. Joseph, MI 49085. William was born Monday, August 21, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois,  the son of the late William and Lillian (Walker) Skiba Sr. On May 3, 1969 he married Katherine Ann Kinel and they shared 50 years together.  He owned and operated the Bridgman Food Mart on Lake Street for 27 years and served on the Bridgman City commission for 24 years, the last six years as mayor.  Bill was a proud member of the Bridgman Fire Department.  Bill will be remembered fondly by his family and friends for his kind spirit, caring nature, supportiveness, generosity and lighthearted sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife:  Katherine; children: William (Audra) Skiba III, Deborah (David) Durham and Jenifer Skiba; grandson: Michael Skiba; brother: Robert (Donna) Skiba; and a sister: Judith Hocking.
